About the Allston-Brighton Neighborhood
Allston Brighton is one of Boston's most diverse communities. Students and professionals, native Bostonians and new immigrants, renters and homeowners, young and old mix in lively crossroads and neighborhoods from Allston Village to Brighton Center. Challenges for this district include physical barriers like the Mass. Turnpike and Soldiers Field Road, which make it challenging to navigate the area; a low owner-occupancy rate of just 19 percent; and a lack of green spaces such as parks and playgrounds.
About Local Partners
The Allston Brighton Community Development Corporation engages neighborhood residents in an on-going process of shaping and carrying out a common vision of a diverse and stable community in the face of sustained economic pressures. That vision is evident in community-led projects that protect and create affordable housing, create greenspace, foster a healthy local economy, provide avenues for economic self-sufficiency, and increase understanding among and between our neighborhood’s diverse residents.
This website is made possible by a grant from Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a group dedicated to helping community residents transform distressed neighborhoods into healthy and sustainable communities of choice and opportunity — good places to work, do business and raise children.
