Located in downtown Boston, Massachusetts, Chinatown remains the focal point of the Asian community in Boston and for all of New England.
The neighborhood is home to cultural festivals, a vibrant commercial district, and over 6,000 residents. The Chinatown DataCommon is a online mapping tool.
Sponsored by the Chinatown Human Development Overlay District (HD-OD), it makes available a wealth of data about Boston's Chinatown neighborhood.
Explore data, print out maps, and create your own maps.
About the Human Development Overlay District
The Boston Human Development Overlay District is a pilot project that seeks to create an information sharing framework to help families,
individuals and small businesses understand, anticipate, and adapt to changes in the neighborhood generated by high-impact,
large-scale developments coming to Chinatown. HD-OD establishes the boundaries of a focused "human development district."
Within this district, planners, developers, and social service providers share data and track community-level indicators to help current
residents and businesses leverage the benefits of upcoming catalytic projects rather than be pushed out by such developments. The project
will show that improved access to timely, interpretable, community-level data can promote equity and increase opportunities for vulnerable populations.
This website is a data portal making data avilable to planners, developers, and neighborhood residents. For more information about the other aspects
of the HD-OD project, please see the national HD-OD website.
