About the Mystic River DataCommon

The Mystic River DataCommon is a partnership between the Mystic River Watershed Association and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council to make available data and maps about the Mystic River Watershed.

About the Mystic River Watershed Association
The Mystic River Watershed Association (or MyRWA) is a non-profit organization founded over thirty-five years ago with a mission to restore clean water in the Mystic River watershed, protect water and related natural resources, and establish relevant public information and education programs. To accomplish this, MyRWA engages volunteers in efforts to monitor water quality throughout the watershed so that our advocacy and public education efforts are based on sound science.

The water quality data collected by volunteers is now available to the public in the interactive mapping format made possible by the DataCommon. The goal is to raise awareness of the Mystic River and its tributaries in order to better understand its problems and opportunities, and provide the tools that advocates can use to help to restore and protect it.

Support for MyRWA’s efforts to compile and catalog water quality data come from the generous donation of an anonymous foundation as well as contributions from members. Learn more about MyRWA’s water quality monitoring and advocacy efforts in the Mystic River Watershed by visiting MyRWA’s website.
